Refrigerators and freezers should be completely clean and dry.

Keep appliance doors slightly ajar and add a box of baking soda to keep them fresh.

Disassemble tables and shelves. Wrap and label each piece for easy re-assembly.

Protect mattresses, sofas, and occasional tables with padding and furniture covers.

Tie the bed mechanism closed on sleeper sofas.

Store sofas, except sleeper sofas, on end to maximize space.

Pack items into the inside of furniture and appliances to maximize all the space available.
